Special Music

This week i did special music for church. I wasn't really a stressful thing for me because I am used to doing that sort of thing and I did it alont at my home church. I sang a Ray Blotz song "Can He Still Feel the Nails", which basiclly asks the question if everytime we sin does Jesus still feel the pain he felt on the the cross. It was really well recieved and the Holy Spirit really moved in spite my my being sick.

This week i learned how important the spirit in which a song is sung...you see i was sick and i acually didn't sound that good, but because my heart was in the right spot and in tune with Christ, the Spirit moved through me to minister to the congregation. Sometimes it takes little reminders like this to show God's sovereignty.

How great is our God?!?

God is good...all the time.

Glad to know the Spirit worked through you regardless of your sickness. God tends to do that doesn't he? :)

I would agree with you that we fail to give proper credit to the power that God enacts in our worship services. We do not need to adorn our services with a Platonic emotional spirituality. We don't really need the guitar to play in the background as the pastor prays and his voice is strained because you can tell how passionate he is (right...).

Personally, I don't need nor want to be manipulated into having a "great worship experience." God works in our services, and yes even through traditional ones. What the contemporary church has lost in reverence is not something to be mitigated. We have so emphasized the presence of God that we have forgot the power. And when the power breaks in we are indubitably surprised.
